A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left
A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left [Andrew Bird]
Overprescribed
Under the mister
We had survived to
Turn on the History Channel
And ask our esteemed panel
Why are we alive?
And here's how they replied
You're what happens when two substances collide
And by all accounts you really should have died
Stretched out on a tarmac
Six miles south of North Platte
He can't stand to look back
Sixteen tons of hazmat
It's what goes undelivered
Undelivered
It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left
It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left
Of the what, of the head to the left
So exercise yourselves to your bereft
'Cause it's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left of the, of the, to the
Splayed out on a bath mat
Six miles north of South Platte
He just wants his life back
What's in that paper nap sack
It's what goes undelivered
Undelivered
It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left
A nervous tic motion of the head
Head to the left
It's a nervous tic motion of the, of the, to the
Left
It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the, of the, of the head of the head to the
Over imbibed under the mister
Barely alive we cover the blisters in flannel
Though the words we speak are banal
Now one of them's a lie
Now one of them's a lie
You're what happens when two substances collide
And by all accounts you really should have died

Over the Hills and Far Away
Over the Hills and Far Away [Gary Moore]
They came for him one winter's night.
Arrested, he was bound.
They said there'd been a robbery,
his pistol had been found.
They marched him to the station house,
he waited till the dawn.
And as they led him to the dock,
he knew that he'd been wronged.
"You stand accused of robbery,"
he heard the bailiff say.
He knew without an alibi,
tomorrow's light would mourn his freedom.
Over the hills and far away,
for ten long years he'll count the days.
Over the mountains and the seas,
a prisoner's life for him there'll be.
He knew that it would cost him dear,
but yet he dare not say.
Just where he'd been that fateful night,
a secret it must stay.
He had to fight back tears of rage.
His heart beat like a drum.
For with the wife of his best friend,
he spent his final night of freedom.
Over the hills and far away,
he swears he will return one day.
Far from the mountains and the seas,
back in her arms again he'll be.
Over the hills and far away.
Over the hills and,
over the hills and,
over the hills and far away.
Each night within his prison cell,
he looks out through the bars.
He reads the letters that she wrote.
One day he'll know the taste of freedom.
Over the hills and far away,
she prays he will return one day.
As sure as the rivers reach the seas,
back in his arms again she'll be.
Over the hills and far away,
he swears he will return one day.
As sure as the river reach the seas,
back in his arms is where she'll be.
Over the hills and far away,
she prays he will return one day.
As sure as the rivers reach the sea,
back in her arms is where he'll be.
Over the hills,
over the hills and far away.
Over the hills,
over the hills and far away.
Arrival in Benaras
Arrival in Benaras [The Darjeeling Limited OST]
Civil War
Civil War [Guns N' Roses]
"What we've got here is failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach...
So, you get what we had here last week,
which is the way he wants it!
Well, he gets it!
N' I don't like it any more than you men." *
Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before
Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before
My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars
D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land
And
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Look at the shoes your filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more
My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars
"We practice selective annihilation of mayors
And government officials
For example to create a vacuum
Then we fill that vacuum
As popular war advances
Peace is closer"
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
And I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
I don't need one more war
I don't need one more war
What's so civil 'bout war anyway?

I'm Yours
I'm Yours [Jason Mraz]
Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but your so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks, now I'm tryin to get back
before the cool done run out I'll be givin it my best test
and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait
I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
We're just one big family
And it's our godforsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved
So, i won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait i'm sure
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate
I'm yours
Scooch on over closer, dear
And I will nibble your ear
I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror
and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I'd be sayin' is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do
our name is our virtue
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more it cannot wait
I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you will find that the sky is yours
so please don't, please don't, please don't,
there's no need to complicate,
Cause our time is short
This, this, this is our fate,
I'm yours
Perfect Strangers
Perfect Strangers [Deep Purple]
Can you remember remember my name
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
And cold spirits of ice
All my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning the echo of a point in time
Distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
And laughing as the spirits appear
All your life
Shadows of another day
And if you hear me talking on the wind
Youve got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Is aching with the dead of the night
Precious life (your tears are lost in
Falling rain)
And if you hear me talking on the wind
Youve got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers

Sons & Daughters
Sons & Daughters [The Decemberists]
When we arrive
Sons and daughters
We'll make our homes on the water
We'll build our walls aluminum
We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon now
These currents pull us
Across the border
Steady your boats, arms to shoulder
Until tides are pulled, hold our grounds
Making this cold harbor now home
Take up your arms
Sons and daughters
We will arise from the bunkers
By land, by sea, by dirigible
We'll leave our tracks untraceable now
When arrive
Sons and daughters
We'll make our lives on the water
We'll build our walls aluminum
We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon
When we arrive
Sons and daughters
We'll make our homes on the water
We'll build our walls aluminum
We'll fill our mouths cinnamon
(When we arrive sons and daughters
We'll make our homes underwater
When we build our walls of aluminum
We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon)
Hear all the bombs fade away
Hear all the bombs fade away
Hear all the bombs fade away
Hear all the bombs fade away
Broken Ship
Broken Ship [Immaculate Machine]
We are sailing on a broken ship, but only one of us can survive
I don't wanna go,
I don't wanna go,
I don't wanna go
If it means you die
Grab that railing tight with all your might
Until we sink into the sea
Cello play us off
Cello play us off
Violin play us off dramatically
These streets are not my home,
Streets are not my home
They'll never be my home
Never be my home
You take nothing, turn it into something
All while sleeping on the floor
Just so you can see,
Just so you can see,
Just so you can see
What you never saw before
Grab that lever, speak into receiver
When your art is on the ground
Message just for you
Message just for you
Cryptic message falls without a sound
These streets are not my home,
Streets are not my home
They'll never be my home
Never be my home
Try to explain, but you don't understand
That I'm just not ready to make these kind of plans
Now that you're here with your head in your hands,
If it never really started how can it be over?
New Soul
New Soul [Yael Naim]
I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit 'bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake
La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)
See I'm a young soul in this very strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit 'bout what is true and fake
But why all this hate? try to communicate
Finding trust and love is not always easy to make
La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)
This is a happy end
Cause you don't understand
Everything you have done
Why's everything so wrong
This is a happy end
Come and give me your hand
I'll take you far away
I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit 'bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake
New soul... (la, la, la, la,...)
In this very strange world...
Every possible mistake
Possible mistake
Every possible mistake
Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes...

La Senda del Tiempo
La Senda del Tiempo [Celtas Cortos]
A veces llega un momento en que
te haces viejo de repente
sin arrugas en la frente
pero con ganas de morir
Paseando por las calles
todo tiene igual color
siento que algo echo en falta
no se si será el amor
Me despierto por la noches
entre una gran confusión
es tal la melancolía
que está acabando conmigo
Siento que me vuelvo loco
y me sumerjo en el alcohol
las estrellas por la noche
han perdido su esplendor
He buscado en los desiertos
de la tierra del dolor
y no he hallado mas respuesta
que espejismos de ilusión
He hablado con las montañas
de la desesperación
y su respuesta era solo
el eco sordo de mi voz...
A veces llega un momento en que
te haces viejo de repente
sin arrugas en la frente
pero con ganas de morir
Paseando por las calles
todo tiene igual color
siento que algo echo en falta
no se si será el amor
La Ingrata
La Ingrata [Café Tacvba]
Ingrata
No me digas que me quieres.
No me digas que me adoras,
que me amas, que me extrañas,
que ya no te creo nada.
Ingrata.
¿Qué no ves que estoy sufriendo?
Por favor hoy no me digas
que sin mi te estás muriendo
que tus lágrimas son falsas.
Ingrata.
No me digas que me adoras.
Se te nota que en tus labios
ya no hay nada que tu puedas
ofrecer a esta boca.
Por eso ahora yo sé que veniste
porque te acuerdas de mi cariño.
Por eso ahora que estoy tan triste
no quiero que nadie me mire sufrir.
Oy, oy, oy, oy, oy, oy, ingrata,
no me digas que me quieres.
Tu desprecias mis palabras
y mis besos, los que alguna vez
hicieron que soñaras.
Ingrata
No te olvides que si quiero,
pues si puedo hacerte daño
sólo falta que yo quiera
lastimarte y humillarte.
Ingrata
Aunque quieras tu dejarme,
Hoy... hoy he vuelto...
hoy he vuelto a soñar...
a soñar con ella.
Es mi fiel compañera,
la que me da y me quita
alegrías y penas.
Qué... qué culpa tengo yo
de haberme enamorado
de una botella.
Hoy... hoy he vuelto...
hoy he vuelto a soñar...
a soñar con ella.
Es mi fiel compañera,
la que me da y me quita
alegrías y penas.
Qué... qué culpa tengo yo
de haberme enamorado
de una botella.
Hoy... hoy he vuelto...
hoy he vuelto a soñar...
a soñar con ella.
Es mi fiel compañera,
la que me da y me quita
alegrías y penas.
Qué... qué culpa tengo yo
de haberme enamorado
de una botella.
Quemar el Mundo
Quemar el Mundo [El Último Ke Zierre]
Me ocultaron tantas cosas,
voy a ponerme a bailar.
Solo acepto por pareja,
a quien venga a quemar
sus etiquetas
¿Bailas?

Dirty Town
Dirty Town [Mother Mother]
Don't like living in a dirty town
Don't like living in a dirty town
I don't like living in a dirty town
Cause a dirty town gets me down
I saved up and i bought some land
Cause i can't stand living in a dirty town
Yeah i pinched my pennies and i put em down
And i washed my hands of a dirty town
Plant my seeds in the ground
Yeah i put em down in my new found land
Cause you can't plant seeds in a dirty town
No you can't plant seeds in a dirty town
I choppin' firewood choppin' firewood
Chop chop chop
Just like a country boy should be chopping wood
I country
My kindling sticks are the perfect little width
Kindling sticks
Get gone from a dirty town
Everybody now
Get gone from a dirty town
Ah-ah-ah-all i need is a chicken wire / and a chicken feed
And a ah-ah-ah-all i see is a new found land fertility, yeah!
My lady friend oh she don't need to pretend
She country
She cracks the crack on dawn with her crackin' whip
Crackity
We having fun just makin' little chillun
Ch chillun
Get gone from a dirty town...
My government no he ain't made of cement
He country
We get along singing good ol' country songs
Ol' guthrie
My bank account is a shoebox in the ground
And empty
Get gone from a dirty town...

Tangled up in Blue
Tangled up in Blue [Bob Dylan]
Early one mornin' the sun was shinin',
I was layin' in bed
Wond'rin' if she'd changed at all
If her hair was still red.
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough.
And I was standin' on the side of the road
Rain fallin' on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through,
Tangled up in blue.
She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess,
But I used a little too much force.
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best.
She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin' away
I heard her say over my shoulder,
"We'll meet again someday on the avenue,"
Tangled up in blue.
I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the ax just fell.
So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat
Right outside of Delacroix.
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind,
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind, and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.
She was workin' in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer,
I just kept lookin' at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear.
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same,
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me, "Don't I know your name?"
I muttered somethin' underneath my breath,
She studied the lines on my face.
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,
Tangled up in blue.
She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
"I thought you'd never say hello," she said
"You look like the silent type."
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century.
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you,
Tangled up in blue.
I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs,
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air.
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died.
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside.
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn,
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keepin' on like a bird that flew,
Tangled up in blue.
So now I'm goin' back again,
I got to get to her somehow.
All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now.
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives.
Don't know how it all got started,
I don't know what they're doin' with their lives.
But me, I'm still on the road
Headin' for another joint
We always did feel the same,
We just saw it from a different point of view,
Tangled up in blue.

Kashmir
Kashmir [Led Zeppelin]
Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed
Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear
Oh, oh.
Oh, I been flying... mama, there aint no denyin
Ive been flying, aint no denyin, no denyin
All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find where Ive been.
Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream
My shangri-la beneath the summer moon, I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high and true, when movin through kashmir.
Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear
Ohh.
When Im on, when Im on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when Im down...
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well Im down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there
Let me take you there. let me take you there

The Littlest Birds
The Littlest Birds [The Be Good Tanyas]
Well I feel like an old hobo, I'm sad lonesome and blue
I was fair as the summer day now the summer days are through
You pass through places and places pass through you
But you carry 'em with you on the souls of your travellin' shoes
Well I love you so dearly I love you so clearly
Wake you up in the mornin' so early
Just to tell you I got the wanderin' blues
I got the wanderin' blues
And i'm gonna quit these ramblin' ways one of these days soon
And I'll sing
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs...
Well it's times like these I feel so small and wild
Like the ramblin' footsteps of a wanderin' child
And i'm lonesome as a lonesome whippoorwill
Singin these blues with a warble and a trill
But i'm not too blue to fly
No i'm not too blue to fly cuz
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs...
Well I love you so dearly I love you so fearlessly
Wake you up in the mornin' so early
Just to tell you I got the wanderin' blues
I got the wanderin' blues
And I don't wanna leave you I love you through and through
Oh I left my baby on a pretty blue train
And I sang my songs to the cold and the rain
I had the wanderin' blues
And I sang those wanderin' blues
And i'm gonna quit these ramblin' ways one of these days soon
And i'll sing
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs....
I don't care if the sun don't shine
I don't care if nothin' is mine
I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my lovin' in the wintertime

If You See Her, Say Hello
If You See Her, Say Hello [Bob Dylan]
If you see her, say hello, she might be in Tangier
She left here last early spring, is livin' there, I hear
Say for me that I'm all right though things get kind of slow
She might think that I've forgotten her, don't tell her it isn't so.
We had a falling-out, like lovers often will
And to think of how she left that night, it still brings me a chill
And though our separation, it pierced me to the heart
She still lives inside of me, we've never been apart.
If you get close to her, kiss her once for me
I always have respected her for busting out and gettin' free
Oh, whatever makes her happy, I won't stand in the way
Though the bitter taste still lingers on from the night I tried to make her stay.
I see a lot of people as I make the rounds
And I hear her name here and there as I go from town to town
And I've never gotten used to it, I've just learned to turn it off
Either I'm too sensitive or else I'm gettin' soft.
Sundown, yellow moon, I replay the past
I know every scene by heart, they all went by so fast
If she's passin' back this way, I'm not that hard to find
Tell her she can look me up if she's got the time.

Hurricane
Hurricane [Bob Dylan]
Pistol shots ring out in the barroom night
Enter patty valentine from the upper hall.
She sees the bartender in a pool of blood,
Cries out, my god, they killed them all!
Here comes the story of the hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.
Three bodies lyin there does patty see
And another man named bello, movin around mysteriously.
I didnt do it, he says, and he throws up his hands
I was only robbin the register, I hope you understand.
I saw them leavin, he says, and he stops
One of us had better call up the cops.
And so patty calls the cops
And they arrive on the scene with their red lights flashin
In the hot new jersey night.
Meanwhile, far away in another part of town
Rubin carter and a couple of friends are drivin around.
Number one contender for the middleweight crown
Had no idea what kinda shit was about to go down
When a cop pulled him over to the side of the road
Just like the time before and the time before that.
In paterson thats just the way things go.
If youre black you might as well not show up on the street
less you wanna draw the heat.
Alfred bello had a partner and he had a rap for the cops.
Him and arthur dexter bradley were just out prowlin around
He said, I saw two men runnin out, they looked like middleweights
They jumped into a white car with out-of-state plates.
And miss patty valentine just nodded her head.
Cop said, wait a minute, boys, this ones not dead
So they took him to the infirmary
And though this man could hardly see
They told him that he could identify the guilty men.
Four in the mornin and they haul rubin in,
Take him to the hospital and they bring him upstairs.
The wounded man looks up through his one dyin eye
Says, whad you bring him in here for? he aint the guy!
Yes, heres the story of the hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.
Four months later, the ghettos are in flame,
Rubins in south america, fightin for his name
While arthur dexter bradleys still in the robbery game
And the cops are puttin the screws to him, lookin for somebody to blame.
Remember that murder that happened in a bar?
Remember you said you saw the getaway car?
You think youd like to play ball with the law?
Think it might-a been that fighter that you saw runnin that night?
Dont forget that you are white.
Arthur dexter bradley said, Im really not sure.
Cops said, a poor boy like you could use a break
We got you for the motel job and were talkin to your friend bello
Now you dont wanta have to go back to jail, be a nice fellow.
Youll be doin society a favor.
That sonofabitch is brave and gettin braver.
We want to put his ass in stir
We want to pin this triple murder on him
He aint no gentleman jim.
Rubin could take a man out with just one punch
But he never did like to talk about it all that much.
Its my work, hed say, and I do it for pay
And when its over Id just as soon go on my way
Up to some paradise
Where the trout streams flow and the air is nice
And ride a horse along a trail.
But then they took him to the jailhouse
Where they try to turn a man into a mouse.
All of rubins cards were marked in advance
The trial was a pig-circus, he never had a chance.
The judge made rubins witnesses drunkards from the slums
To the white folks who watched he was a revolutionary bum
And to the black folks he was just a crazy nigger.
No one doubted that he pulled the trigger.
And though they could not produce the gun,
The d.a. said he was the one who did the deed
And the all-white jury agreed.
Rubin carter was falsely tried.
The crime was murder one, guess who testified?
Bello and bradley and they both baldly lied
And the newspapers, they all went along for the ride.
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fools hand?
To see him obviously framed
Couldnt help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game.
Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise
While rubin sits like buddha in a ten-foot cell
An innocent man in a living hell.
Thats the story of the hurricane,
But it wont be over till they clear his name
And give him back the time hes done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.
Red Flag
Red Flag [Billy Talent]
Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
The red flag wavin' never meant the same,
the kids of tomorrow don't need today,
When they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)
Well I've never seen us act like this,
our only hope is the minds of kids,
and they'll show us a thing or two.
Our only weapons are the guns of youth,
It's only time before they tighten the noose,
and then the hunt will be on for you.
The Red Flag waving never meant the same
no...
The Red Flag waving never meant the same
Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
the red flag wavin' never meant the same,
the kids of tomorrow don't need today,
when they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)
Like a smallest bee packs a sting,
like a pawn checkmates a king,
we'll attack at the crack of dawn.
Build a ladder if there's a wall,
don't be afraid to slip and fall,
speak for yourself or they'll speak for you.
The Red Flag waving never meant the same
no...
The Red Flag waving never meant the same
Go!
Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
the red flag wavin never meant the same,
the kids of tomorrow don't need today,
when they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)
Like a fire
don't need water,
like a jury
needs a liar,
like a riot
don't need order,
like a madman
needs a martyr.
We don't need them.(x8)
Cast off the crutch that kills the pain,
the red flag wavin' never meant the same,
the kids of tomorrow don't need today,
when they live in the sins of yesterday. (x2)
(we don't need them - echoes through out the next stanza)
Cast off the crutch that kills the pain
the red flag waving never meant the same
the kids of tomorrow don't need today
when they live in the sins of yesterday (x2)
(We don't need them, we don't need them) Cast off the crutch that kills the pain
(We don't need them, we don't need them) The Red Flag waving never meant the same
(We don't need them, we don't need them) The kids of tomorrow don't need today
(We don't need them, we don't need them) When they live in the sins of yesterday
We don't need them
Play with Fire
Play with Fire [The Rolling Stones]
Well, youve got your diamonds and youve got your pretty clothes
And the chauffeur drives your car
You let everybody know
But dont play with me, cause youre playing with fire
Your mother shes an heiress, owns a block in saint johns wood
And your fatherd be there with her
If he only could
But dont play with me, cause youre playing with fire
Your old man took her diamonds and tiaras by the score
Now she gets her kicks in stepney
Not in knightsbridge anymore
So dont play with me, cause youre playing with fire
Now youve got some diamonds and you will have some others
But youd better watch your step, girl
Or start living with your mother
So dont play with me, cause youre playing with fire
So dont play with me, cause youre playing with fire

Aux Champs Elysées
Aux Champs Elysées [Joe Dassin]
Je m'baladais sur l'avenue
Le coeur ouvert à l'inconnu
J'avais envie de dire bonjour
À n'importe qui
N'importe qui ce fut toi
Je t'ai dit n'importe quoi
Il suffisait de te parler
Pour t'apprivoiser
Aux Champs-Élysées
Aux Champs-Élysées
Au soleil, sous la pluie
À midi ou à minuit
Il y a tout ce que vous voulez
Aux Champs-Élysées
Tu m'as dit "J'ai rendez-vous
Dans un sous-sol avec des fous
Qui vivent la guitare à la main
Du soir au matin"
Alors je t'ai accompagnée
On a chanté, on a dansé
Et l'on n'a même pas pensé
À s'embrasser
Aux Champs-Élysées
Aux Champs-Élysées
Au soleil, sous la pluie
À midi ou à minuit
Il y a tout ce que vous voulez
Aux Champs-Élysées
Hier soir deux inconnus
Et ce matin sur l'avenue
Deux amoureux tout étourdis
Par la longue nuit
Et de l'Étoile à la Concorde
Un orchestre à mille cordes
Tous les oiseaux du point du jour
Chantent l'amour
Aux Champs-Élysées
Aux Champs-Élysées
Au soleil, sous la pluie
À midi ou à minuit
Il y a tout ce que vous voulez
Aux Champs-Élysées

Ruby Tuesday
Ruby Tuesday [The Rolling Stones]
She would never say where she came from
Yesterday dont matter if its gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes
Goodbye, ruby tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still Im gonna miss you...
Dont question why she needs to be so free
Shell tell you its the only way to be
She just cant be chained
To a life where nothings gained
And nothings lost
At such a cost
Theres no time to lose, I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams
And you will lose your mind.
Aint life unkind?
Goodbye, ruby tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still Im gonna miss you...
Birds
Birds [Kate Nash]
She was waitin` at the station
he was gettin` off the train
he didn't have a ticket so he had to run through the barriors, again.
well the ticket inspector saw him rushin` through he said, girl you don't know how much i missed you
but
we better run
cause i havent got the funds to pay
this
fine
she said
fine
so they ran out of the station
and jumped onto a bus with
two of yesterdays travel cards
and two bottles of bud
and he said you look well nice.
well she was wearin a skirt
and he thought she looked nice and
yeah she didn't really care about
anything else because she only
wanted him to think that she looked nice
and he did
but he was lookin' at her yeah
all funny in the eye
she said c`mon boy
tell me what you're thinkin` now
dont be shy
he said alright i'll try
well the stars up in the sky
and the leaves in the tree
all the broken bits that make you trip up and the grassy bits inbetween
all the matter in the world
is how much that i like you
she said what?
he said let me try and explain again
right birds can fly so high
and they can shit on your head
yeah they can almost fly into your eye
and make you feel so scared
but when you look at them
and you see that they are beautiful
thats how i feel about you
right birds can fly so high
and they can shit on your head
yeah they can almost fly into your eye
and make you feel well scared
but when you look at them
and you see that they are beautiful
thats how i feel about you
yeah thats how i feel about you
she said what?
he said you
she said what are you talking about?
he said you
right birds can fly so high
and they can shit on your head
yeah they can almost fly into your eye
and make you feel so scared
but when you look at them
and you see that they are beautiful
thats how i feel about you
right birds can fly so high
and they can shit on your head
yeah they can almost fly into your eye
and make you feel well scared
but when you look at them
and you see that they are beautiful
thats how i feel about you
and thats how i feel about you
she said thanks i like you too
he said cool
Fidelity
Fidelity [Regina Spektor]
(Shake it up)
I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost in the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind all this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
And suppose I never met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never ever let you kiss me so sweet and so soft
Suppose I never ever saw you
Suppose we never ever called
Suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall
Just to break my fall
Just to break my fall
Break my fall
Break my fall
All my friends say that of course its gonna get better
Gonna get better
Better better better better
Better better better
I never love nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost
In the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind
All this music
And it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
Breaks my
Heart
Breaks my heart
Falling Slowly
Falling Slowly [The Swell Season]
I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

Life on Mars
Life on Mars [David Bowie]
It's a God awful small affair
To the girl with the mousey hair
But her mummy is yelling, "No!"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is no where to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seats with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a sadd'ning bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?
It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Now the workers have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a sadd'ning bore
'Cause I wrote it ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on
Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate [Iron Maiden]
When a person turns to wrong, is it a want to be, belong?
Part of things at any cost, at what price a life is lost
At what point do we begin, fighter spirit a will to win
But what makes a man decide, take the wrong or righteous road
Theres a thin line between love and hate
Wider divide that you can see between good and bad
Theres a grey place between black and white
But everyone does have the right to choose the path that he takes
We all like to put the blame on society these days
But what kind of good or bad a new generation brings
Sometimes take just more than that to survive be good at heart
There is evil in some of us no matter what will never change
I will hope, my soul will fly, so I will live forever
Heart will die, my soul will fly, and I will live forever
Just a few small tears between someone happy and one sad
Just a thin line drawn between being a genius or insane
At what age begin to learn of which way out we will turn
Theres a long and winding road and the trail is there to burn
Theres a thin line between love and hate
Wider divide that you can see between good and bad
Theres a grey place between black and white
But everyone does have the right to choose the path that he takes
I will hope, my soul will fly, so I will live forever
Heart will die, my soul will fly, and I will live forever
I will hope, my soul will fly, so I will live forever
Heart will die, my soul will fly, and I will live forever
The thin line between love and hate
The thin line between love and hate
Bri Bri Bli Bli
Bri Bri Bli Bli [Extremoduro]
Me acuerdo de tí
me cago en tus muertos,
no puedo dormir
me sueño que has vuelto.

Country Death Song
Country Death Song [Violent Femmes]
I had me a wife, I had me some daughters.
I tried so hard, I never knew still waters.
Nothing to eat and nothing to drink.
Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think.
Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think.
Well, Im a thinkin and thinkin, till theres nothin I aint thunk.
Breathing in the stink, till finally I stunk.
It was at that time, I swear I lost my mind.
I started making plans to kill my own kind.
I started making plans to kill my own kind.
Come little daughter, I said to the youngest one,
Put your coat on, well have some fun.
Well go out to mountains, the one to explore.
Her face then lit up, I was standing by the door.
Her face then lit up, I was standing by the door.
Come little daughter, I will carry the lanterns.
Well go out tonight, well go to the caverns.
Well go out tonight, well go to the caves.
Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves.
Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves.
A led her to a hole, a deep black well.
I said make a wish, make sure and not tell and
Close youre eyes dear, and count to seven.
You know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven.
You know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven.
I gave her a push, I gave her a shove.
I pushed with all my might, I pushed with all my love.
I through my child into a bottomless pit.
She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit.
She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit.
Gather round boys to this tale that I tell.
You wanna know how to take a short trip to hell?
Its guarenteed to get your own place in hell.
Just take your lovely daughter and push her in the well.
Take your lovely daughter and throw her in the well.
Dont speak to me of lovers, with a broken heart.
You wanna know what can really tear you apart?
Im going out to the barn, will I never stop in pain?
Im going out to the barn, to hang myself in shame.
Pinball Wizard
Pinball Wizard [The Who]
Ever since I was a young boy
I've played the silver ball
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball
He stands like a statue
Becomes part of the machine
Feeling all the bumpers
Always playing clean
He plays by intuition
The digit counters fall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball
He's a pinball wizard
There's got to be a twist
A pinball wizard
He's got such a supple wrist
How do you think he does it?
(I don't know)
What makes him so good?
He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells
Don't see lights a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell
Always gets a replay
Never tilts at all
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball
I thought I was
The Bally table king
But I just handed
My pinball crown to him
Even on my favourite table
He can beat my best
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball
Cadillac Solitario
Cadillac Solitario [Loquillo & Los Trogloditas]
Siempre quise ir a L.A.
y probablemente me habrás olvidado
No sé que aventuras correré sin ti
Y ahora estoy aquí sentado
en un viejo Cadillac segunda mano
Junto al Marbellí
a mis pies mi ciudad
Nena, porqué no volviste a llamar
me he quedado solo fumando un cigarro
Me ha sentenciado, nostalgia de ti
Y desde esta curva donde estoy parado
me he sorprendido mirando a tu barrio
y no estás tú ¡¡Nenaaaa!
y no estás tú ¡¡Nenaaaa!!
¡¡Nenaaaa!!
(Y no estás tú)
(Y no estás tú)
(Y no estás tú)
(Y no estás tú)
Oh nena nena nena no estás tú
The Crane Wife 1&2, 3
The Crane Wife: 1&2, 3 [The Decemberists]
[1]
It was a cold night
And the snow lay low
I pulled my coat tight
Against the falling down
And the sun was all
And the sun was all down
And the sun was all
And the sun was all down
I am a poor man
I haven't wealth nor fame
I have my two hands
And a house to my name
And the winter's so
And the winter's so long
And the winter's so
And the winter's so long
And all the stars were crashing 'round
As I laid eyes on what I'd found
It was a white crane
It was a helpless thing
Upon a red stain
With an arrow its wing
And it called and cried
And it called and cried so
And it called and cried
And it called and cried so
And all the stars were crashing 'round
As I laid eyes on what I'd found
My crane wife, my crane wife
My crane wife, my crane wife
Now I helped her
And I dressed her wounds
And how I held her
Beneath the rising moon
And she stood to fly
And she stood to fly away
And she stood to fly
She stood to fly away
And all the stars were crashing 'round
As I laid eyes on what I'd found
My crane wife, my crane wife
My crane wife, my crane wife
[2]
My crane wife arrived at my door in the moonlight
All star bright and tongue-tied I took her in
We were married and bells rang sweet for our wedding
And our bedding was ready when we fell in
The sound of the keening bell
To see its pain erect
Soft as fontenelle
The feathers and the thread
And all I ever meant to do was to keep you
My crane wife
My crane wife
My crane wife
We were poorly, our fortunes fading hourly
And how she vowed me, she could bring it back
But I was greedy, I was vain and I forced her to weaving
On cold loom, in a closed room, with down wove
The sound of the keening bell
And to see its pain erect
Soft as fontenelle
The feathers and the thread
And all I ever meant to do was to keep you
My crane wife
My crane wife
There's a bend in the wind and it rakes at my heart
There is blood in the thread and it rakes at my heart
It rakes at my heart
My crane wife
[3]
And under the boughs unbowed
All clothed in a snowy shroud
She had no heart so hardened
All under the boughs unbowed
Each feather it fell from skin
'Till thread bare while she grew thin
How were my eyes so blinded?
Each feather it fell from skin
And I will hang my head, hang my head low
And I will hang my head, hang my head low
A gray sky, a bitter sting
A rain cloud, a crane on wing
All out beyond horizon
A grey sky, a bitter sting
And I will hang my head, hang my head low
And I will hang my head, hang my head low

Hexagone
Hexagone [Renaud]
J'me souviens surtout d'ces moutons,
Ils rat'ront pas leur réveillon;

Fields of Athenry
Fields of Athenry [Irish Rebel Songs - Version: Dropkick Murphys]
By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling
Michael, they have taken you away,
For you stole Trevelyan's corn,
So the young might see the morn.
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay.
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wind, we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry.
By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young man calling
Nothing matters, Mary, when you're free
Against the famine and the Crown,
I rebelled, they cut me down.
Now you must raise our child with dignity.
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wind, we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry.
By a lonely harbor wall,
She watched the last star falling
As the prison ship sailed out against the sky
Sure she'll wait and hope and pray,
for her love in Botany Bay
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry.
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry.
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wind, we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry.
Blister in the Sun
Blister in the Sun [Violent Femmes]
When I'm a walking, I strut my stuff, then I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite, I just might, stop to check you out
Let me go on, like a blister in the sun
Let me go on, big hands I know you're the one
Body and beats, I stain my sheets, I don't even know why
My girl friend, she's at the end, she is starting to cry
Let me go on, like a blister in the sun
Let me go on, big hands I know you're the one
Whisper:
When I'm a walking, I strut my stuff, then I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite, I just might, stop to check you out
When I'm a walking, I strut my stuff, then I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite, I just might, stop to check you out
Body and beats, I stain my sheets, I don't even know why
My girl friend, she's at the end, she is starting to cry
When I'm a walking, I strut my stuff, then I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite, I just might, stop to check you out
Loud:
Let me go on, like a blister in the sun
Let me go on, big hands I know you're the one
Adventures in Solitude
Adventures in Solitude [The New Pornographers]
Balancing on
One wounded wing
Circling the edge
Of the neverending
The best of the vanished marvels have gathered inside your door
More than begin
But less than forget
But spirits born
From the not happened yet
Gathering there
To pay off a debt brought back from the wars
We thought we lost you
We thought we lost you
We thought we lost you
Welcome back
Sleeping for years
Pick through what is left
Through the pieces that fell and rose from the depth
From the rainwater well
Deep as a secret nobody knows
Less than forget
But more than begun
These adventures in solitude never done
To the names of our rooms (?)
We send the same blood back from the wars
We thought we lost you
We thought we lost you
We thought we lost you
It will all come back
I know you want to
Run far away from one more
And that it's comin' at a bad time
Some cold place
Heartless ways
For all we know
I know you need to
Breathe through
Come back
Come too
But it's comin' at a bad time
Tangled day
For all we know
I know you want to
Run far away from one more
And that's comin' at a bad time
Some cold race
Heartless ways
For all we know
I know you want to
Breathe through
Come back
Come too
But it's comin' at a bad time
Old scarred face
Survivor's guilt
For all we know
Mariner's Revenge Song
Mariner's Revenge Song [The Decemberists]
We are two mariners
Our ships' sole survivors
In this belly of a whale
Its ribs our ceiling beams
Its guts our carpeting
I guess we have some time to kill
You may not remember me
I was a child of three
And you, a lad of eighteen
But I remember you
And I will relate to you
How our histories enweave
At the time you were
A rake and a roustabout
Spending all your money
On the whores and hounds
Oh Ohhhhh
You had a charming air
All cheap and debonair
My widowed mother found so sweet
And so she took you in
Her sheets still warm with him
Now filled with filth and foul disease
As time wore on you proved
A debt-ridden drunken mess
Leaving my mother
A poor consumptive wretch
Oh Ohhhhh
And then you disappeared
Your gambling arrears
The only thing you left behind
And then the magistrate
Reclaimed our small estate
And my poor mother lost her mind
Then one day in spring
My dear sweet mother died
But before she did
I took her hand as she, dying, cried:
Oh Ohhhhh
"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave
*sigh*"
It took me fifteen years
To swallow all my tears
Among the urchins in the street
Until a priory
Took pity and hired me
To keep their vestry nice and neat
But never once in the employ
Of these holy men
Did I ever once turn my mind
From the thought of revenge
Oh Ohhhhh
One night I overheard
The Prior exchanging words
With a penitent whaler from the sea
The captain of his ship
Who matched you toe to tip
Was known for wanton cruelty
The following day
I shipped to sea
With a privateer
And in the whistle
Of the wind
I could almost hear...
Oh Ohhhhh
"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave
"There is one thing I must say to you
As you sail across the sea
Always, your mother will watch over you
As you avenge this wicked deed"
[haunting, sailor-esque musical interlude lead by mandolin, accordion and tuba]
And then that fateful night
We had you in our sight
After twenty months at sea
Your starboard flank abeam
I was getting my muskets clean
When came this rumbling from beneath
The ocean shook
The sky went black
And the captain quailed
And before us grew
The angry jaws
Of a giant whale
[instrumental noise]
Oh Ohhhhhhhhhh
[screaming]
Ohhhhh
[screaming]
Don't know how I survived
The crew all was chewed alive
I must have slipped between his teeth
But, O! What providence!
What divine intelligence!
That you should survive
As well as me
It gives my heart
Great joy
To see your eyes fill with fear
So lean in close
And I will whisper
The last words you'll hear
Ohh Ohhhhh
Parece que Aún Fue Ayer
Parece que Aún Fue Ayer [Los Suaves]
Recuerdo que hace tiempo
creo que antes de nacer
cuando las horas perdidas
llegaban al amanecer.
No había que cumplir promesas
el cansancio era placer
las lagrimas eran de risas
y parece que aún fue ayer.
En los amigos creía
y en palabras de mujer
en Dios, patrias y banderas
y en el diablo también.
En leyes, familia y escuela
y, claro, también en el rey
voy recordando mentiras
y parece que aún fue ayer.
Cuantas ilusiones
